EXPECTATIONS FOR ROOM 17
Please be at school by 7:58 am
Homework is given every night except for Friday.
Spelling Tests are given on Fridays (Words are listed on the Spelling and Vocabulary Tab to the left)
Practice all vocabulary, language exercises that are sent home, and spelling words frequently.(These are all on the Friday's Assessment) 3 Comprehension questions the 9 more questions for Spelling,Vocabulary, and Grammar.
Have a diary or independent reflection journal (one is provided the first week (your child should be writing 8 to 10 sentences 2 times a week and 10 to 15 by Jan. of 2012) Over 40 prompts have been glued into the Journal cover for Journal writing, but are not mandatory to write about. Kids can write about their day or about soccer practice etc.Journals are due Fridays. Two a week...(one free choice and one mandatory Treasures) (prompts are in the Spelling Vocabulary section for each Main Treasures story)
20 min. of independent reading is a must daily. (Don't forget to fill in reading log) A short reading book report might be given at the end of the month.
Independent Projects:
Wilfred Gordon: Due Sept 9th (Sorry I gave it early)
Star is Born Collage of photos on poster board Sept. 19th
Family Project End of Nov. (guidelines given Sept. 20th) Due November 29th
African American Project in February. (Start reading books about a famous African American Hero)
LAUSD Math Assessments about every 10 weeks (3 throughout the year)
NEW PROGRAM: Dibels Assessment given three time a year (Sept. 26th, Jan (after break) and May) ON READING FLUENCY
Things to look for in your child's backpack:
-parent notices given on Wednesday's Stuff Day ( Some students need to return the Emergency Info.)
-Work that they may need extra practice on.... Look at X's and review
