All I-Ready User codes have been given out... Your child knows how to log in by a Google search... the password is student.
Your child will be monitored by me. Your child's progress shows up on my main screen at school. I will address your child's needs accordingly. Please have your child do a lesson (60 min) in Math and a lesson (60 min) in Language Arts once a week at a minimum.. I would prefer 90 min lessons in Math and 90 min in English a week. It is up to the student..There is no Maximum...Let them do it as much as they like. DO NOT HELP YOUR CHILD WITH ANY OF THESE LESSONS!
Please start on new project :)
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
We need aluminum cans to fill our entry bag to the Cabrillo Museum...Bring them in now... please!
I-ready has started... student ID numbers will be sent home after we finish the diagnostic test..(their password is the word student). The kids had a great time today and will continue in the computer lab tomorrow.
Please join us at Fairburn Family nights... they are so much fun and we all have to eat...
Ask your school how you can help with the walk a thon.. It is so much fun and so much to do!
Start thinking about the next project on the projects tab.
Math start reviewing rounding an estimating... ex: 1097 to the nearest hundred..... 82091 to the nearest thousand
adding and subtracting three digit numbers...
Congrats on full pledge participation... We just got word that we get a pizza party... We are going to enjoy pizza on Halloween for free..!
Look at the project list... to see what is still available.
Please make sure your child is following all the directions of their homework. Some kids are filling in some areas of their language arts with nonsense! (It takes a lot of unnecessary time for me to go over it with the students and for them to make up homework during classroom time.)
Some children have not completed the Wilfred Gordon Project due on Sept. 19th... (Small book needs to be turned in with presentation)
Don't forget to do Frindle questions on Mondays and Tuesdays.. This week you will only see Monday questions.
There will be no A,B,C order or Sentences this week due to our 50 question comprehensive final this coming Friday. (We have these finals every 5 weeks after completing a Unit)
The students need to study all their spelling words for Unit 1.
We will take a spelling pretest of the words on Sept 23rd
Have your child study the words that they missed. ( I will not correct these... there are too many words (please correct them on Monday night)
Have your child study their flash cards that they have made weekly.(approximately 28 words) Look at Unit 1 words on the spelling vocab tab for the past weeks)
They should know how to use vocabulary words in a sentence and also know multiple meanings of the words if they have one.
Students will get a study packet of Language Arts concepts of Unit 1 on Friday Sept. 20th. (Study these throughout the week since some pages and concepts they haven't seen in 4 weeks.)
There is no Research Inquiry this week... Sorry if you couldn't access the site on Wed. Sept 18th... (no problem... thanks for the parent notes)
Spend any extra time working on Los Angeles Project...
Come to the PTA Art night... The flyer was sent home on Wed. Sept. 18th
Please have a plan for a packed lunch for our field trip to the Cabrillo Museum on Oct. 10th..Lunch is also available with pre-ordering through the cafeteria. (Don't put lunch in a paper bag because they rip easily, but in 2 plastic grocery backs with a name on it please.)
I-Ready almost ready to launch at Fairburn
Directions to follow and we will start this program at school in computer lab....
Eventually you will have to Log on to I-Ready and have your child take the Diagnostic Test.
free system check: www.i-ready.com/support/systemcheck
make sure your headphones work properly
Encourage your child to take their time.
Students should use pencil and paper for computation on math diagnostic part.
Test is not timed :start and stop by clicking on the X in gthe gtop right corner of each test question.
Some questions are easy and some are difficult.. Just have them do their best and future questions will address their needs.
This I-ready program is very important because it will help us address their needs in Language and Math.
FYI- some problems on the CST Math assessment practice were corrected incorrectly.. ( my TA corrected these... sorry) Please look over the problems that your child got wrong.
Please have your child do the Wednesday Research Inquiry on wide ruled lined paper, not in the journal.(so I can collect it)
Remind your child that spelling sentences, (two) journals, and reading logs are checked on Fridays. (Make sure that your child follows the Treasures Journal Prompt)
Frindle questions start next Monday and Tuesday.
Please remind child to take care of the book...
Please go over rounding numbers. We had many mistakes last week on
rounding to the nearest hundred and thousand.
examples: Do these: nearest hundred 1.) 567 2.) 989 3.) 1,058
answers: 600 1,000 1,100
nearest thousand 1.)7,890 2.)1,589 3.)9,901
